Pupil dies after dog attack

Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Patrick Mbikiwa said that they have received reports that the 10-year-old boy died after he was bitten by a dog.

He said they are still uncertain what really transpired during the incident.  Reports are that the boy was trying to pick oranges from a yard when he met his fate.

Mbikiwa said the dog allegedly belonged to the owner of the yard but they have not made any arrests. He said they are hampered by the fact that the dog bit the deceased while in its backyard.

He urged parents to ensure that their children go to school and come back home at the right time. Mbikiwa also said parents should teach their children to go straight home after school and not to get into people’s yards without permission.

The deceased’s body is currently at Sekgoma Memorial Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. He will be laid to rest this weekend.
