Masters’ stay was cut short when the two parties decided to part ways 12 months before the end of the Briton’s contract.

He had signed a contract in February 2013, becoming the first expatriate BFA CEO. Masters’ departure came immediately after the alleged discovery of pornographic material on his laptop and a large amount of Viagra, a controlled substance.

BFA president, Tebogo Sebego said the hunt for Masters’ successor was already in full throttle ahead, with the process expected to be completed within four months.

“The process has already started. We want to ensure that what we are doing is in line with our strategic plan. We will engage an agency to handle the process to ensure transparency,” Sebego said.

He said they want to engage someone who will drive the BFA strategy.

Asked if they will consider expatriates, Sebego said they want the best person for the job although he hinted their search might be confined to within the borders.

“Our (local) market should have enough people who can deliver our strategy. We will listen to recommendations from the professionals although we know what we are looking for (as BFA),” Sebego said.

The BFA has battled to retain the head of the secretariat with as many as seven chief executive officers arriving and leaving in the last eight years.

Thabo ‘Stiles’ Ntshinogang, Judge Mookodi, Duncan Kgame, Tosh Kgotele, Keith Masters, Sonnyboy Sethibe (acting), Susan Monametsi (acting) and Tariq Babitseng (acting), are some of those who have been at the helm but never lasted long.

Meanwhile, Sebego said BFA and Masters had amicably parted. He said the exit package was fair to both parties, although he refused to disclose the amount.
