Speaking during the handover ceremony, PTIA president Keorapetse Setlhare said the association would use the funds to develop sporting infrastructure in private institutions.
“Only a few private institutions such as Limkokwing and Botho University have sporting infrastructures, therefore we are looking forward to developing other institutions,” he said.
The deal is for one year.
He further said funds would be used to introduce other sports codes such as rugby.
“We are looking forward to participating in regional and world events,” he said, adding the funds will bring a great impact and develop sports in private institutions.
Setlhare said the association would work closely with the sponsor, Etudiant and is confident the two would extend their newly found relationship.
PTIA has hosted a number of sporting events for private institutions since its inception in 2009.
The association mentored soccer star Mogakolodi Ngele who is now turning out for South African team Platinum Stars, during his tertiary years at Botho University.
Etudiant director, Kabo Letlhare said there is a possibility of extending the deal and increasing the amount next year.
PTIA has eight private institutions namely Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Botho University, Ba Isago University College, New Era College, ABM University College, GIPS, Boitakanelo College and Imperial School of Business and Science formerly known as Damelin college.
PTIA will host an athletics tournament on Saturday at a venue yet to be confirmed and then announced.
