The alleged paedophile faces a charge of common nuisance after he posted on Facebook that he sexually penetrated the child he was babysitting until she cried out in pain. The suspect is now out on bail.

Mbulawa said that preliminary investigations, however, reveal that the allegations could be false.

“In the past we have warned Batswana that we will arrest anyone who posts unlawful things on social media and this clearly shows that some people thought that we were joking,” he said.

He added that they intend to continue to follow and arrest such people, even those who have used false identities thinking that they will not be caught.

The police have since warned social media users to be mindful, responsible and sensitive with their postings on social media as some of them could put them in trouble.
