Born Andile Xolo over three decades ago, the renowned disc jockey came on stage well after midnight and put up a fair show, which saw hundreds of fans dancing to some of the best hits he belted out.

The celebrated but simple disc jockey seen on Africa’s biggest television channel, Channel O sneaked into the club minutes after midnight. Most of the fans did not recognise him because of his simplicity. The few fans that did recognise him as he entered the club clamoured for his attention or even just to touch the seam of his simple white T-Shirt. DJ Andy X went straight for the VIP lounge and relaxed for half an hour before taking to the music box to do what he knows best – spinning vinyl on the decks.

The show took off smoothly with no incidents of discontent from the revellers as they danced the dawn away.

DJ Andy X started off with Intombi Yakwa Xhosa, as if he was appreciating the women who came in droves to the show dubbed ‘One Night Stand with DJ Andy X’. The song is about a beautiful Xhosa woman. Revellers, especially women responded positively and displayed different dance moves.

DJ Bunz (Peter Gaetsewe) and DJ Da Drat played mostly hip-hop music before the maestro came back on stage more rejuvenated as his songs kept the crowd on its feet. He said although he has played in many countries across the continent, the Botswana crowd was the most interactive and promised to return.
