Soul Food Comedy promoter, Karabo Musa, confirmed to Showbiz that DJ Fresh will headline the grand finale of the stand up comedy, now in its third season.

A number of socialites and personalities such as athlete Nijel Amos and rapper Ozzy F Teddy have also been roasted.

Musa mentioned that DJ Fresh’s appearance will have impact on the export of comedians to South Africa and beyond.

“DJ Fresh is an export, so his presence will also give upcoming comedians confidence of breaking through to other countries to pursue their careers,” she said. DJ Fresh who is now an internationally acclaimed DJ left the country for South Africa where he worked as a DJ at YFM after having a stint on local radio.

He is currently one of the judges on SA’s Got Talent and he has worked with a number of artists such as Euphonic, Oskido and Ralf Gum.

Only five comedians will qualify for the final round, which is the roast of DJ Fresh.

Musa said Soul Food Comedy’s mission is to promote and develop local talent and create opportunities for them across borders.

“It is time we take local comedians seriously and abroad,” she said. She further stated that after the DJ Fresh roast the winner of the roast and two finalists would go on a South African tour, which will include cities such as Mafikeng, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The three will also have an opportunity to share the stage with Kansiime Anne when she comes to perform in Botswana and will also join her on her South African tour.
