The Master of ceremony for the night Lorato Orapeleng informed the crowd that the night was specifically dedicated to celebrating and appreciating the sense of fashion in Botswana.

“Local brands such as Brandon Botswana displayed fashion that reflects our history as a nation from 1996. We want to recognize those who are entering the industry and the sense of fashion in Botswana,” Orapeleng said.

A local band, Perfect Peach, kept the audience entertained throughout the show. They were performing local and international songs and the crowd seemed to enjoy the melodies they were served with. A number of perfectly selected models paraded on the ramp, showing off their beauty and creativity of local designers. Each model seemed confident as they unleashed their catwalk skill on the ramp.

They also seemed to enjoy every moment of it. A local brand, KAY Designs showcased outfits, which are mostly of African Style and influence. Orapeleng said such designer have an important purpose of presenting the unique African style to the world.

“We believe fashion to be temporary but with style we make it permanent. Let’s wear it African,” Orapeleng said.

Pako Gaofise was the third designer to showcase his creativity. A parade, mostly dominated by women displayed a wide range of designs by Gaofisi. This included a long red dress with a design revolving around the shape of a butterfly, which led the audience into earsplitting out of appreciation.

‘‘At least I managed to sell five bags since I arrived here in the afternoon. It is really promising and we are looking forward to more fashion show events,” Thipe said.

Owner of Ramp Magazine, Thabo Moloi said the event went well even though attendance was not satisfactory.

“We have made a loss but we appreciate what we have done. It is not all about the loss, it is about making a mark. We are looking forward to the official launch of the magazine towards the end of March 2015,” Moloi said.
