Victorious BDF XI Out Of CAF Champions League

Despite that, BDF has bowed out of the competition due to a slim margin of 3-2 aggregate. Young Africans came into the match with a 2-0 lead from the first leg that was played in Tanzania on Valentine’s Day.
Young Africans found a goal in the 30th minute through a strike by Mrisho Ngasa. BDF goalkeeper, Ontiretse Gaothobogwe was undecided when trying to make a save and Ngasa took advantage and hit the back of the net.
BDF tried a counter attack few minutes later and Kabelo Seakanyeng strike was saved by the goalkeeper. Ngasa was on the attack in the sixth minute, beating Mompati Thuma, but his strike missed the target by some inches.
Master Masitara failed to connect with a pass from Vincent Dzombe on the right flank in the eighth minute. The visitors were controlling play in the first quarter and BDF were chasing shadows.
BDF attacker, Masitara had an advantage but his opponents cleared the danger in front of goal. Seakanyeng long ranger flew over the crossbar in the 13th minute.
The visitors were playing entertaining football, holding on to the ball and taking the game to BDF. Mbuyu Twite dribbled Pelontle Lerole and his attempt flew over the target in the 15th minute.
BDF were dealt a blow when Othusitse Mpharitlhe was sent to an early shower in the 20th minute after a foul on Samon Msuva.
The army side was awarded a set piece a few yards from the box and Seakanyeng took the responsibility only to kick the ball out of play. Dzombe made a brilliant pass to Masitara and the goalkeeper comfortably dealt with the danger.
Ngasa header flew over the target in the dying minute of the first half.
BDF came back as a changed side in the second half, attacking Young Africans and forcing a set piece outside the goal area in the 47th minute.
Moreetsi Mosimanyana levelled matters with a header. Msuva tried to extend the visitors lead in the 49th minute, but hit the woodwork. BDF made double substitutions in the 53rd minute, throwing in Lesego Lubinda and Kumbulani Madziba.
Ngasa who was a menace for BDF, hit the woodwork in the 55th minute. Danny Mrwanda was sent off for a dangerous tackle in the 72nd minute. After the match, BDF coach, Letang Kgengwenyane said he had advised his players to avoid conceding. He said the main challenge was lack of experience. “We played well and showed character. You can see that BDF is coming back to where I had left it. We need to play more international games. We were playing against a skilful side,” he said.
Young African tactician, Johannes Vander Pluijm said the plan was to avoid crosses because they can be deadly. He said BDF utilised them to get goals. He said it difficult to balance the CAF competition and the league back home.
