BDF XI ready to overhaul Yanga deficit

The army side has stuttered locally having lost three games in the league, with their last outing a disappointing 2-1 loss to Township Rollers in the Mascom Top 8. The striking partnership of Vincent Nzombe and Master Masitara will look to end their goal drought and fire the soldiers to the next round. Both strikers have a high workrate, but fail to find the net. BDF XI communications manager, Peo Keatlholetswe said the team had prepared well for the return leg.
“We have been preparing well for the Tanzanians. There are currently no injuries in the camp,” revealed Keatlholetswe. Asked if Ofentse Mmipi will feature after recovering from a long injury layoff, Keatlholetswe said the decision lies with the coach, Letang Kgwengwenyane. “As far as I know, all the players have been registered for the competition and its up to the coach to decide the starting team,” she said. In an effort to attract a large crowd, BDF XI will allow students who produce their student cards free entry. Young Africans are the leaders in the Tanzania Premier League and are fresh from a 3-1 victory over Mbeya City in a league encounter over the weekend. They will rely on striker Amsisi Tambwe who downed Matebele with a brace in the first leg. Brazilian striker, Audrey Coutinho will add value in the visitors’ attack. Yanga have much better experience in African competitions having appeared in the CAF Confederation Cup three times and progressed to the first round twice, in 2007 and 2008. Matebele have participated in the competition once in 2005.
