The show, which is organised by the university’s Student Representative Council (SRC) with the help of management, is expected to take place on March 7, 2015 at BIUST Campus Softball grounds, the SRC president has confirmed.

SRC president, Enock Government said that they decided to call their show Home Coming rather than Fresher’s ball, which is a popular name with other universities.

“We chose to name our show Homecoming because it is an exclusive one.  That is to say we are not going to be welcoming only first year students to Palapye but everybody. So we are inviting all the people in and around Palapye to come and celebrate the opening of our campus with us. This is the first show to be celebrated so we want it to be huge,” Government said. He further said that BIUST students have been under a lot of pressure lately, so by organising such a huge event, they hope to help students ease their minds.  “We want to spend the whole night having fun to try to enliven our minds from what we went through.  So the show will start at 3pm on Saturday until 8am the following day.  Tickets are on sale for P100 and P300 for  VIP,” Government said.

The lineup for the night is sizzling hot, the campus is expected to be on fire on the day. South Africa’s Black Motion is expected to perform. Local artists who have also been invited to BIUST Homecoming include, among others, Vee Mampeezy, ATI, Slizer, Drama Boi, Team Distant, Crispin the Drummer, DJ King, T-Izzy and NT Base.

Government said there will be tight security there, adding that they have engaged the organisers of the recently held Clap Your Hands  for logistical assistance.
