Speaking during a kgotla meeting recently in Kagiso, Mojuta said since this is a new term, they are gathering information from the residents on how to make some positive changes.

He said since people have voted for the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to be in power, as representatives, they now want to know the people’s priorities in terms of developments.

“We will work well with all the leadership in town and keep you updated on developmental issues in our town within reasonable time,” he said.

The town mayor introduced different development committees that consisted of the councillors.

He explained that the delay in bringing services to the people was caused by their debts to the council.

He therefore advised them to clear their unpaid service levy and other outstanding dues. He noted that wastage of services or vandalism of the council property would take them nowhere since the money for the developments is now being diverted to maintenance.

“Different companies in town are very much united since we all aim to achieve a common goal,” Mojuta said.

Water Utilities Corporation (WUC), customers care and services coordinator, Robert Kaphepa advised residents to avoid disposal of refuse into the sewer lines as they contributed to regular blockages.

He further advised residents to pay water bills that have an accumulated figure of P6 million and still unpaid in the town alone.

Deputy town mayor, Molefi Pilane urged the parents to advise their children not to disturb the streetlights and electric power lines by hanging their shoes on them.

Pilane, who is also the councillor for the area, Sesame South, complained of how the land in the area is not adequate to accommodate all the churches.

He promised to visit the churches to spread the message to the concerned parties.
