The comedy show, which started last year, has produced a number of stand-up comedians such as Charles Manase, Tulani Tau and Bambino.

Soul Food Comedy promoter, Selby Muir told Showbiz that the auditions will be on Friday between 5pm and 8pm.  Registration for the auditions will take place before auditions on the same day.

Muir said in this year’s season Soul Food Comedy is scouting for new comedians with fresh and creative jokes.

“We will be accepting old comics who have tried their luck before, but they are supposed to present new material,” he said.

Each comedian will be given five minutes to impress the judges.

Muir said the auditions will only be hosted in Gaborone.

Interested individuals who reside outside the capital city are advised to get in touch with the Soul Food Comedy team on their Facebook page and arrange for auditions.

Soul Food Comedy will shortlist 10 comedians.

“The finalists will participate in celebrity roasts, which will take place in May this year,” Muir said.

In the last round a panel of judges, yet to be released, will pick one winner and two runner-ups. The three comedians will tour South Africa, which is a new development.

They will also be given an opportunity to perform at five different events around Botswana.

Ever since its inception last year Soul Food Comedy has brought a great impetus on the local comedy scene. Last year they hosted one of the biggest female comedians in Africa, Kansiime Anne, at two sold out shows.
