He last saw saw them during the December of 2013 when they left for Tsabong to prepare for their wedding.
The heartbroken Mochudi man, Pac Letlhogonolo Monau, said he last saw his girlfriend, Amanda Thebolo and their two sons, who were aged four and two years old, on December 26, 2013.
“I last saw her when she left home to visit her family. She had not seen them in many years, so I asked her to go and make amends with them because we wanted to get married. As you know, in our culture, one has to receive blessings from their elders before marriage,” he said.
Little did he know that was the last time he would see his family.
Monau said he was puzzled when Tsabong police called that evening to inform his family that they were with Thebolang and the boys. “The police claimed she was in an unstable mental condition. Monau said the next day the police called again to inform them that his fiancée and his children had just boarded the bus to Gaborone. They did not arrive. The next morning, he received a phone call from his sister who said some people they knew in Oodi had seen Thebolo roaming around the village, behaving strangely.
“We asked them to accommodate her and the children and put them on the first bus to Mochudi the next day but they still did not arrive. I then set off for Oodi. When I got there, I was told she had left with the boys. A few other people said they had spotted her in Mmamashia,” he said.
He claims he decided to solicit help from churches. “The prophets told me they were fine, and that Amanda and the boys were staying with a lady who had made her a zombie. All I want is my wife and children,” the distraught man cried. Oratile Mbaiwa, (Monau’s sister) confirmed his brother’s claims. Tsabong Police Station Commander Howard Modo, however, said he was unaware of the case. “I remember every incident that takes place in my village so there is no need to look for any information about a case I don’t remember,” he said.
