South African entertainment enterprise Efigy Production in conjunction with Liban Lounge and Provision Media will present a perfect platform for local fashion trendsetters to showcase their work. The show is pencilled in for March 28 at the Liban Mediterranean Cuisine in Gaborone and will run under the theme True Fashion and Lifestyle Movement.

But it is Selimathunzi’s presence that spices up the upcoming event.   Selimathunzi was the first entertainment show to grace South African television screens and has risen to become a sustainable brand on SABC 1. The show’s two talented individuals Zizo Beda and Lunga Shabalala are expected in the country for the show.  The show will be screened in one of the episodes of Selimathunzi, which airs every Tuesday at 7 pm on SABC 1. Sky Lounge operations manager, Lobito Ncube, expects the show to be a springboard for upcoming fashionistas.

“We are expecting SABC’s Selimathunzi and VUZU to grace the event.  They have already confirmed so we are basically waiting for the 28th,” Ncube said. The show is aimed at giving a platform to upcoming, unrecognised designers and models. “FWB was set to provide a platform to upcoming and mostly unrecognised designers so that is the reason why the larger part of the designers and models will be from Botswana,” said Ncube.

The organisers believe ‘architectural charm’ of the venue makes it the most suitable place to host the show. Fashion lovers will have to pop out an entrance fee of P1,000 to witness the various pieces that will be on display.

“Guests will be treated to the latest designs, some of which will be available for sale at the venue.  The P1,000 will be what one has to pay and everything will be catered for, from the fee,” added Ncube.

The organisers of the FWB Gaborone, Efigy Productions, have hosted big fashion shows in South Africa such as FWB Vaal, Sedibeng Fashion Expo, and Gauteng Fashion show at the Sansui Summer and other great shows.

Local fashion shows have been widely credited with reflecting the best of the dual existence of tradition and modernisation in the country. The fashion industry has been able to get heads rolling beyond borders with local fashionistas turning out at international shows.
