Revellers throng Play Fest in high numbers

Revellers were scattered across the large field playing a variety of traditional games such as double dutch, koi, tap-tap, hoola hoop and street soccer.

Other revellers decided to relax on their camp chairs and enjoy the music churned out by a number of assembled DJs.

As the sun went down, more people spilled into the grounds. But by this time, many were abandoning the games for the dance floor.

The DJs started their sets on a laid back note, but DJ Fauz’s 90s mix brought life to the dance floor as people sung and danced along to Bongo Maffin and Boom Shaka tracks. Despite the poor sound, those in attendance seemed to enjoy themselves, singing along to all the tracks, while some did the train jive and different old school dance routines.

Unfortunately, the police arrived to close down the event at around 9pm, before artists such as Flo Cater and MMP Family had performed.

Ryan Blaze is the only artist who managed to perform, belting out his popular tracks such as, Destiny and Kentucky.

Speaking to Showbiz, the organisers Team Out of Order leader, Mdu Tha Party, said the event was hosted to add a twist to the local entertainment scene.

“We always experience the same type of events. We decided to be creative and do something different and fun,” he said.

Several socialites and celebrities such as Zizi Panther, Zeus, German Dollar, Team Distant and E.G.O were spotted at the Play Fest socialising with revellers.  Rapper Flo Cater said he was very impressed with the event, especially since it was the first of its kind.

“This is a great event, the childhood games have brought back many great memories of the stuff that we used to do when we were still children,” he said.
