The team is currently languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table, having collected only eight points from 19 games in their debut season. Letlapeng have entered into an open-ended agreement with Moyo, which will be reviewed at the end of the season. The coach’s mandate is to help the team survive the axe before he can be given a permanent deal. Moyo arrives following the departure of seasoned coach, Daniel Nare who quit last week.

“He is confident that this squad is capable of surviving the relegation. He has been aware of what was happening at the team including the fitness level of our players because he has been watching our games,” club chairperson, Sidney Magagane told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

He said they had initially decided that assistant coach, Matshidiso Moseki should be at the helm until the end of the season but they made a u-turn after interviewing Moyo, who convinced them that he has what it takes to rescue the team.

“He believes he can turn things around with this squad,” Magagane said. Moyo started working with the team on Tuesday. His first assignment is against tricky side, Police XI in Molepolole on Sunday. After losing the likes of Michael Pillar in the last transfer window, Letlapeng have brought in 13 new players in the hope of turning their fortunes around.

The team has signed two former Township Rollers’ players, Bobby Mathe and Shadrack Kgosietsile. Mathe moved to Letlapeng following the arrival of Noah Maposa in the goalkeeping department.

His stay would have meant that he would compete for a starting berth with Mwampule Masule, Michael Pepukani and Maposa. Masule has been a regular starter although Pepukani has recently got game time.  Some of the new Letlapeng players made an immediate impact last Sunday despite the 1-0 loss to Gaborone United (GU).
