A to the T brings back the 90s music

This hits sample songs from the likes of Whitney Huston’s Exhale, Brenda Fassie’s Indaba Yami Istraight and Andre Martin’s Let Me Return The Favour. 

The 19-year-old rapper released the digital free mix tape online earlier this year.

He told Showbiz that he recorded the mixtape, which was produced in his parents’ garage, with the aim of showing his peers where today’s music was derived.  He said he had grown up listening to his father’s huge collection of 90s music, which had endeared him to the pre-millennium sound. It’s the love he has for the music, which inspired him to create this album.

A to the T said he had to change a few elements in the beats of his tracks to add a fresh sound to incorporate the slow RnB jams into hip-hop. He worked with upcoming artists such as Millie, Toon, Loonyt and producer Druey tha Beat Chap on the mix tape. 

He said the mixtape would appeal to both young people and adults.

“The catchy 90s sound will definitely remind grown ups of their good old days, while the new school lyrics will grab attention of the young ones,” he said.  Prior to the mixtape, A to the T released a single titled Exhale sampled from Whitney Houston’s popular soundtrack to the blockbuster movie Waiting to Exhale.

The rapper who looks up to Zeus, and appreciates the music of Tupac Shakur and Brenda Fassie among others, recently established his own recording label called 95 To Infinity.

The upbeat rapper plans to release his debut studio album after completing his studies at the University of Botswana, in two years time.
