New broom: young boxers proved their mettle during the inter- clubs championships held at University of Botswana on Saturday

Hard-hitting Keaobaka Motsebe of BMC outclassed Rammupudu (UB) and showed the fancied boxer scant respect in a 3-0 humiliation in the 52kg. Both Seoko (BMC) and Bobeilwe of (SSKB) also got a 3-0 whitewash in the 56kg and 69kg respectively.

However, other big names like Oteng Oteng (UB) and Kabelo Bagwasi (DTCB) won their bouts. The other Bagwasi brother, Kagiso made short work of crowd favourite, Botshelo Molefe (SSKB) in the 64kg. It was a no contest as Molefe’s coaches threw the towel in the first round when they saw that Kagiso was too much for their man who was knocked senseless. Kagiso’s flurry of jabs and upper-cuts completely neutralised Molefhe, whose head swung from side to side uncontrollably from sustained pummeling. When Molefhe’s hand dropped down, Kagiso floored him with a haymaker in the face.

In the women category Joyce Katlholo (KNBC) won by a technical knockout against Oarabile Kgopolo (ENG) in the 51kg; Kelebogile Monthusi (EMG) beat Nametsegang Makoba (Mafika); Koketso Dipogiso (KNBC) and Keneilwe Rakhudu(DTCB) won by walked over after their opponents Rodah Maswabi(GVBC) and Tshepang Moilwa(SSKB) fail to show up.
