The 19-year-old rapper, who first burst into the scene last year with a single Hold Up, says she has been playing her cards close.

“I am looking forward to changing the game with my new project.  The content, style and authentic rap will create some changes in the local rap scene.  It will bring back the basic hip hop of the olden days,” she said.

Before finishing her 15-track mixtape titled My Zone, she had been recording for a year and half at Brotherhood Wave, a music stable she is signed under.

Fio Matt-Hala said she is still finalising on the release date of My Zone, but it will be out during the first quarter of the year.

The rapper also stated that the mixtape is full of rhythmic and poetic material.

The mixtape features American rapper, Young rebel, and local   ones, Euri and Noello, to mention a few.  The tracks were produced by Al Keyz.  Fio Matt-Hala said she fused different forms of Hip Hop such as trap, conscious, underground and a bit of RnB in her mix tape.  “The music relates to different situations such as love, partying and just a simple chill session,” Fio Matt-Hala said.

The femcee (female emcee) who is also a finalist in rap competition,  The Hub-music, stated that she looks forward to inspiring more women to venture into the hip hop industry.

She further said that she is willing to help young and upcoming femcees to step into the rap music scene.

Fio Matt-Hala expressed some disappointment towards local radio stations.

“The problem is radio stations do not play our music, only Yarona Fm is willing to do so,” she said. She further said lack of local music airplay leads to the general public not being familiar with their artists and music.

The femcee is planning on doing more live performances after the release of her mixtape, which carries tracks such as Real World, Best Thing I Ever Had, Too Fresh and Hold Up.
