In a letter dated February 03, 2015 to the secretary general and the executive, copied to President Ian Khama, the outspoken Peloetetse states that; “Besides the fact that I wish to give more time to my duties as a nominated councillor, I am of the conviction that removing myself from the sub committee will enable this very critical organ of our party to work unhindered by my presence.”

He says he is unwelcome in the party, something that has given rise to a campaign of innuendo and false accusation to undermine his integrity.

Mmegi has since established that Peloetetse resigned after he was summoned by some central committee members to answer to some charges on Monday. But central to the issue, said a source, were the differences over the support of lobby lists for the coming July elective congress.

The BDP insider said the campaigns have intensified so much there is open hostility. “There is no peace in that committee and that is what led to Peloetetse’s resignation,” the source revealed. Peloetletse refused to talk to Mmegi, saying he would not discuss party issues with the media.

Efforts to get a comment from Tsholetsa House were unsuccessful as the BDP executive secretary Sechele Sechele said he was in a meeting at press time.
