The musician whose real name is Jackie Mohlake died Saturday morning at his home in Pretoria.

“It is sad to lose such a talented musician at such an early age. He was an inspiration to many but now he is gone,” Ratshega told Showbiz.

The two musicians were stable mates at Pretoria-based, Sun Shine Music Production.

Ratshega said that he and the Bojo Mujo were planning to make remixes of some of his (Ratshega) most popular songs in the near future.

“We were regularly discussing remixing songs such as Makhirikhiri and Leso La Monnamogolo.

I do not know if that will be possible now that he is gone.

Even if Sun Shine Music goes ahead with the project, it would have been nicer if he were around,” Ratshega said.

The burly borankana musician said Bojo Mujo was instrumental in him joining Sun Shine Music Production.

“He was a down to earth person who made people feel comfortable around him. He used to call me Moruti because I do not drink. He was a fun loving fellow, never saw himself as a star, but just another man from the neighbourhood,” he said.

Despite his easy-going character, Bojo Mujo was a shrewd businessman who respected his work.

“I remember when I first brought him here.  I snapped at him backstage because he was drinking moments before he was to appear on stage.

He just said, don’t worry Moruti, and when he came on stage there was nothing to suggest he had been drinking.  He taught me to respect the stage and the studio because those are the musician’s offices,” he said.

Ratshega said he was preparing to attend the fallen giant’s funeral in Pretoria at the weekend.

Bojo Mujo made a hit with the remix of Culture Spears’ Kulenyane in 2008. While the track burnt dance floors around Southern Africa a storm unfolded in the news media, especially in Botswana.

Culture Spears’ Kabelo Mogwe faced angry fans who accused him of ‘selling a national treasure’, yet he denied entering any deal with the house music star.

In one interview with a local radio station, Mogwe explained at the time that Bojo Mujo had shown interest in remixing the song, but he (Mogwe) explained to him that Kulenyane was originally a folk song, which he could not claim.
