The Gaborone-based singer and songwriter got on stage just around midnight when the fans were almost losing patience thinking that the pint sized muso would not show up.

Dressed in white, Vee was sporting a glittering hat.

Hundreds of his fans sung along his songs that followed an indication that his music, though simply composed, has found a comfortable niche market in the northern part of the country.

Time and again, Vee would instruct the disc jockey to pause the mixer to give fans a sing along chance to songs like Zaza, Taku-Taku, Botswana Ke Le Gae Lame and many other songs.

“Sephuma Khona (We hail from there),” Vee sang, while reminding some of the fans of the days when they were still attending primary school.

The song, which is sung in Ndebele, was well received.  Some were seen shedding tears as Vee reminded them of the good old days before the introduction of the alcohol levy and restrictions on trading hours.

Probably having been impressed by the response from the crowd, Vee belted Khaya Lame, saying he felt home and dry when in Francistown.  He then wrapped up the eventful three hours with his gospel songs.

The crowd could not help it but sang along with the talented performer as he performed Baba, Matthew 25 and I No Longer Suffer.

Lizard Entertainment resident disc jockey, Peter Gaetsewe, popularly known as DJ Bunz brought along some Francistown-based vinyl spinners to warm up the stage before Vee’s main act.
