Galaxy leads with 27 points after a 2-0 weekend win over Sharps Electrical, while Santos, on 23 points, were held to a draw by Killer Giants.

Black Peril held Fighters to a 0-0 draw.

At the end of the first round, the three teams were tied on 21points, but Galaxy has since made their intentions clear with two successive wins.

Fighters lost their first game after the break before the weekend draw.

Fighters’ coach, Mpho Mabogo said they were forced to play in a muddy pitch on Sunday afternoon at SSG ground.

He said when they suggested to the match officials that the game be postponed, they were unsuccessful.

Mabogo said they wanted the game to be played mid week when the pitch is in good condition.

First Division South League chairperson, Sam Keitireng said the rain did not last long and it was only wet during the first half while the pitch dried up in the second period.

Keitireng said if the pitch was unplayable then the officials should have postponed the game.

“The other problem is that our clubs in the first division are used to playing with trainers instead of soccer boots.

“It was difficult for Peril during the Sunday because they did not have boots and the pitch was slippery. On the other hand, Fighters had brought boots,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mabogo said the arrival of former BDF XI attacker, Mokgathi Mokgathi at Fighters is a boost.

Mokgathi has been playing for the army side since 2008. He said the player brings much-needed experience and players look up to him.

He said being a national team player means he provides guidance.
