BCP takes Moshupa

This was after the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP)and BCP tied during the General elections last October.
The BCP won with 801 against the BDP’s 703 while the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) got 182 votes. BCP was represented by Olebogeng Sethibe , BDP by Motlhatlusi Kelobang while Abraham Motlogelwa represented UDC.
Even before the results were out the BCP supporters had started their celebrations outside Mmanaana Junior Secondary School.
The Vice President and area MP Mokgweetsi Masisi came around 9:39 pm to observe the counting process.
However the BCP were irked by the District Commissioner’s decision to temporarily suspend counting of ballots just to recognise the presence of the VP.
At first things looked to be promising for the BDP during the early stages of the counting but the situation took a turn for the worse around at 10:30 pm when BCP started to open a big gap.
Immediately when the result were about to be announced, the VP went and hugged the BCP candidate and promised him that they will work together well.
The BCP candidate Sethibe said he believes that he will continue where he left in terms of development in his area.
“I still want internal roads in my ward to be tarred and water shortage problem to be solved. I really want to thank Bakgatla for voting me despite people trying to preach that I should be disadvantaged just because of my skin colour. The BCP members have also worked tirelessly to ensure that we retain the constituency,” Sethibe said.
The BDP candidate Kelobang said he accept the results recognising that the area is a BCP stronghold.
