Burglars break Into 30 offices

The Monitor visited the RAC offices and found a trail of destruction as the burglars brought down every door that stood on their way.

The centre is made up of administration block and caravans. All of them were broken into. It is reported that there were four security guards on duty on the night of the burglary.

“We got a report around 3am that a person was spotted in the compound and fortunately there was a team of officers patrolling nearby.

We suspect that the intruder jumped over the fence  and got away when they saw police vehicle,” said Superintendent Mogomotsi Kwapa yesterday. He said that some of the stolen items included  video cameras, cameras, projectors, cellphones and laptops. “It seems the burglars had ample time to do their dirty work. We found some of the stolen goods abandoned in the premises of the administration centre.

Apparently the burglars did not know which offices were their target, and they broke into kitchens,” he said. He added that they are yet to establish the full extent of the damage and the goods stolen since the break-in occured on a weekend when officers were off duty.

Superintendent Kwapa said that they have not arrested any suspect in connection with the incident.
