The committee replaced the previous leadership after a weekend special general meeting in Gaborone.

Mathe told Mmegi Sport that they have been given the task of rescuing BOKA in good faith and affiliates are to draw terms of reference.

He said the committee has been given the mandate to review the constitution of the association. The committee met on Monday and appointed two people to solicit ideas from affiliates to be included in the constitution.

“After compiling all the information needed, we will engage some attorneys before presenting the amendments to the general membership during the annual general meeting to be held in April.

Members should adopt the constitution before it is sent to the Register of Societies. One mistake that people make in BOKA is to take decisions individually and we want to avoid that,” Mathe explained.

He said he has worked for the association before, and it is not difficult for him to find his footing in his latest role.

He said he is aware of the challenges karate is facing at the moment. Mathe said the first thing on his agenda is to come up with a programme of activities for the year. “We will not allow someone from outside to dictate to us on how we should work.

When we need assistance, we will consult,” he said. He said the two months they have been given is a short period to deliver and by April, a new executive committee will take over.  The interim committee has been mandated to appoint national team coaches and assemble national teams for training. Mathe said the national team would be participating in the Zone Six games in May, which will be followed by the All Africa Games.

He said BOKA would host a tournament for seniors next month, which will be used as a selection platform for the national team.
