Suspected burglar gets serious beating

Superintendent Mothusi Phadi of Ramotswa Police Station said Kalajane, together with two other unidentified suspects, had used a motor gate remote control to enter David Mogotsi’s house and stole P400 and Samsung S5 smartphone.

Phadi said that after stealing the goods, the suspects tried to escape by jumping over the electric fence but Kalajane was not lucky. The electric shock sent him back into the yard and members of the family pounced on him, hitting him with anything they could lay their hands on.

Phadi identified the suspect as a serial offender wanted by police for other burglaries in Bobonong. “We searched his house and recovered 10 different types of stolen cellphones. During interrogation, the suspect told us that he had sold some of the cellphones in Francistown.

Our officers accompanied him to Francistown to recover the phones,” he added. The suspect will appear before Ramotswa Magistrate’s Court next week. Meanwhile, Mochudi police have arrested a 17-year-old man who is suspected of murdering his girlfriend, early this month.

The suspect, whose names have been withheld because he is a minor, was arraigned before Mochudi Magistrate Court last Friday and is currently in custody at Moshupa Boys Prison. The body of the deceased was found in a thicket by the river at Boseja ward in Mochudi.

The deceased was reportedly pregnant at the time of her untimely death. She was buried at her parents’ home on January 16, a day after her decomposed body was found.
