Debswana sponsors Son of the Soil with P40 000

 

Debswana’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Esther Kanaimba-Senai said, “Debswana is delighted to be affiliated with this event which showcases Botswana’s rich cultural diversity. We welcome the idea of bringing all the cultures together to strengthen cultural ties in our country. Having sponsored the successful Son of the Soil event in 2014, we found it fit to continue supporting this exceptional initiative in 2015.”

As a Trust, we believe in the value that cultural identity plays in the shaping of character; especially in a globalised village setup. Son of the Soil cultural event has had an impact in the cultural preservation and the development of a strong cultural identity among the young people of Botswana.” Jerry Mwendapole –  Chairman, Bana ba Mmala Trust, the organisers of the event.

The event is billed to start on Friday January 30, with a cultural workshop during the day and mainane, maboko, song and dance sessions later in the evening.

Following that there will be the main participatory event and Setswana Jazz sessions at Boetelo Sun Valley Resort on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
