Goodhope-Mabule voters leave Masisi baffled

Speaking at a political rally over the weekend in Goodhope, to launch Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) council candidate, Kopo Mononi, Masisi said he was hurt by the loss suffered by his cabinet colleague Kitso Mokaila at the hands of Mathokgwane. He said he would never rest until Mokaila, who bounced back to Parliament through special nomination, is voted back as an elected MP.
“This is one of the hardest working men that the party needs at all times. He is a hard worker in his ministerial post and he always ensures that his ministry delivers. Hate or love him, all presidents like a minister who knows what he is doing. I don’t understand why people can vote a person of Mathokgwane’s calibre than Mokaila,” Masisi said.
He said Mokaila stands for his party through thick and thin. Masisi said his party had no choice but to bring back Mokaila because of the commitment and hard work he had shown in all ministries he led.
“We agreed with the party president when he mentioned Mokaila to be one of his nominated ministers. He really fits so well in his ministry, especially in this time around when our country has water and electricity crisis,” he said. Meanwhile at the rally, Mokaila, said he accepted his loss immediately after the results were announced. “Although I don’t know how I lost, I want to assure the BDP members for Goodhope/Mabule that it is well with my soul,” said the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources (MMEWR).
“Even though some members felt that an election audit should be done to determine how I lost, I told them it is fine. The numbers had shown that indeed we are winning when adding the numbers of people who voted for the councillors. I had to admit defeat and move on as a person,” Mokaila said.
