Pink Concert featuring Bouncy postponed

Bouncy was expected to headline the annual gig, which was set to take place at Park Lane Theatre in Harare, Zimbabwe this past Friday. The theme for this year’s edition was ‘From We-men to Our Women’. The show has been deferred to February 27, 2015, at the same venue.
Event organiser, renowned Afro-jazz musician, Dereck Mpofu, confirmed the postponement. “We sought clearance from the National Arts Council to host this event but were informed that we had to register as a promoter to do this event.
This implies that if we do decide to comply we cannot hold our event in the time left,” he explained. Mpofu added that they decided to postpone the concert to give them ample time to clear the issue with the Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture.
The objective of the show is to celebrate the achievements of women and bring to the fore the challenges they face.
Bouncy has expressed excitement over being selected to be part of the show. “This is an event wholly based on saluting the women and girl child and it is a joy to be a part of it,” she told Showbiz.
Mpofu divulged that the recent stripping and harassment of women and girls in towns across Zimbabwe and the high mortality rate among women due to breast and cervical cancer, as well as the prevalence of child marriages, spurred them to re-run the concert.
Zimbabwe’s leading dub poets, Albert Nyathi, Pax Gomo, Junior Spice, Anderson Mamimine and Flem B, are among other artists lined up for this year’s concert.
Bouncy launched her single Walking Away in December. The 23-year-old twerker-cum- musician is making steady progress in music with the single, which was released a few months after her first official single She Got It, which featured Spiza Valentino. She also released – another radio single, last June. The three singles are meant to create hype around her musical work ahead of the release of her first full album anticipated to hit the shelves later this year.
