BPL to investigate Madinda media snub

The coach refused to talk to reporters arguing that some of them are tarnishing his name, particularly on social media networks.
Mamelodi said he was not aware that reporters had been snubbed by the coach and promised to investigate the matter. He emphasised the need for all stakeholders to work together to promote football. Township Rollers apologised for Madinda’s behaviour at yesterday’s press briefing in Gaborone.
Reporters were shocked after the Saturday night match when they were told to follow coaches to the dressing room instead of interviewing them at the media centre. One Rollers’ official was adamant that the reporters follow the coach to the dressing room despite the scribes’ objection. Another official told journalists to wait outside the dressing room, but this was in vain as Madinda fumed that he had been unfairly treated by some reporters. He said some of the ‘culprits’ were present at the game and he would not grant reporters an interview.
Sports reporters blamed the BPL for not making it compulsory for coaches to grant interviews after games. Some angry Rollers’ officials threatened to beat up a journalist who insisted on interviewing coaches. It was at this moment that journalists sought Mamelodi’s intervention and the BPL CEO promised to look into the matter.
