Four perish in road collision

He said the accident involved a Toyota Allex and Nissan UD truck that collided along the A3 road (Francistown/Nata) at around 6am. Kesupile said that the Toyota Allex had four people, two females and two males whilst the truck had only one person. “The Toyota Allex was proceeding west whilst the truck was heading east. All of the four people who were inside the Toyota Allex were rushed to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) where they were confirmed dead on arrival, “ said Kesupile.

He said that two of the deceased, the driver, a man aged 42-years-OLD and a 39-year-old woman were teachers at McConnell Senior Secondary School at Tutume village. “Other two deceased passengers were a 21 year old female student at Marobela Brigade and a 48- year-old male,” he said. Asked if the deceased were related, Kesupile said they were yet to establish that during their investigations.

Rumours are that the two deceased teachers were partners and had slept at Tonota and were traveling to work when the mishap occurred.

Kesupile said the truck driver aged 32 was taken to Mathangwane clinic where he was treated for minor injuries and trauma. “We are still trying to ask what could have caused the accident from people who might witnessed the accident,” said Kesupile.

He went on to disclose that this was the second fatal accident this year in his policing area following the first one that occurred at Mmandunyane village on January 2. He said in that accident a car overturned and a middle-aged woman who was a passenger lost her life.

Kesupile pleaded with drivers to be extra cautious at all times when driving.
