UDC wants Goodhope

The BDP and Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) will be battling it out at the weekend in the election re-run following a tie during the General Elections.

Speaking at the well attended launch over the weekend at the  bus rank, the area MP James Mathokgwane said their candidate Ogopotse Dboy/sb  Modibedi is a youthful candidate unlike the Botswana Democratic  Party (BDP) candidate Kopo Mononi.

“Modibedi is a youthful person who has the interest of people’s welfare at heart unlike Mononi. I am pleading with people of Goodhope to vote UDC since it is a party which can advocate for you. This is one of the villages in Borolong that is disadvantaged in terms of development. Internal roads here are not tarred and workers are forced to travel long distances up to Lobatse when it’s a pay day,” Mathokgwane said.

He said he was forced to negotiate with one of the banks that had promised to open a branch at Goodhope.

He told Barolong that even though they voted BDP for many years, nothing has been done in their area.

Mathokgwane also thanked the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) for paving the way for him.

He said BCP have promised that they would vote for their candidate.

“You cannot keep on voting a party that does not recognise you. We should be united as Barolong and take out the BDP since you tried and tested it,” he said.

He said Modibedi has been working hand in hand with youth and village elders for many years.

Meanwhile UDC vice president Ndaba Gaolathe said BDP has failed Batswana and it is time they were voted out.

“I am here today to plead with you to vote for Modibedi. I remember very well that same in October last year I came here to plead with you to vote for Mathokgwane and indeed you did that. Mathokgwane is a credible MP who knows his duties at Parliament and indeed he is a leader,” Gaolathe said.

He said Modibedi would stand up for issues of education in their area and ensure that council fullfills its duties.

He said for council to do some improvements/development in the area, it needs a strong councillor who would follow it up.
