Gabs get your taste buds ready

Nakasaki 42 and Liquor Boss will be bringing the first ever food festival, which will feature over 60 countries from across the globe.

More than 15,000 people are expected to throng the festival.  Already Facebook is abuzz with the event, and it currently has over 5,000 likes and the number is still growing.

There will be many activities including games, entertainment and special appearances.

Entrance fee will be announced soon and tickets will go on sale in Botswana and South Africa on June 1, 2015.

One of the organisers, Lloyd Mwape, revealed, “We want all races to interact and celebrate life through food”.

He further said that their aim is to unite people from all walks of life in one place for cultural exchange.  The food festival will also sell Botswana globally as people will experience Setswana culture through music and food. The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism as well as the Mayor of Gaborone are expected to grace the event.

Artists from all over the world including USA, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, India, China, DRC, to mention a few are expected to perform at the festival.

Stalls will be sold at P1,000 each and this will be a business opportunity for chefs, catering companies, restaurants, wine distributors, culinary schools and bars to sell their products, network and get global exposure.

Mwape, however, highlighted that, “Those interested in hiring stalls should know that the standards will be high and food will be prepared in a hygienic environment.  For the first time ever, McDonalds & Butlers will be at the festival, selling their products”.

All cuisine such as Asian, Italian, and French will be catered for.

Japanese chefs will demonstrate how they make their dishes including sushi.
