Chiefs keep up Pressure

Chiefs had to withstand swelling waves of attacks to cling on to a precious victory, which keeps them three points off the pace.

Veteran striker, Onalethata ‘OT’ Tshekiso’s brace was enough to earn Mike Sithole’s charges all the points in an absorbing encounter played in sweltering heat.

Tshekiso struck in 31st and 38th minutes before Vincent Nzombe replied for BDF XI sparking a nervy finish to the encounter.

BDF XI will feel robbed after referee, Tirelo Mositwane failed to dismiss Zambian defender, Willbroad Mutale who pulled back bustling striker, Nzombe when he was clear on goal in the 29th minute. Mositwane only flashed a yellow card much to the BDF XI bench’s dismay.

Tshekiso rubbed salt into BDF XI’s wounds with the opener two minutes later, totally against the run of play.

The former Rollers frontman pulled a pass into the box before dragging his effort away from a diving Takudzwa Ndoro and into the net. It was 2-0 in the 38th minute when Tshekiso completed his brace, firing into the far left corner after a perfectly weighted cross from Tendai Nyumasi.

BDF XI continued to attack Rollers and pulled one back via the boot of Nzombe who scored a beauty in the 68th minute.  It was a well crafted goal, which saw a neat exchange of passes before Nzombe smashed home.

Sithole once again down played a substitution incident, which saw Lemponye Tshireletso head straight to the dressing room after he was pulled out.

“Tshireletso was carrying an injury. It was us who ordered him to go straight to the dressing room,” he said. Sithole was naturally elated with win, which serves as a morale booster ahead of their crunch meeting with Rollers this weekend.

“It is a massive three points. The return of Lesh (Lesego Galenamotlhale) stabilised our midfield. We expect Phenyo Mongala to feature in the next game,” he said.

BDF XI coach, Letang ‘Rasta’ Kgwengenyane said they lost the game in the first half as they defended too deep.

“We allowed them space in the box. In the second half we came back strongly but I feel the match officiating was not balanced. Our (title) target remains the same as there still 13games to play,” he said.
