TAFIC, Kazungula In Stalemate

However TAFIC coach Atshele Molapi will draw some positives from the way the team played. For the first time in as many matches the hosts showed varlour and creativity.

Upfront debutant striker Allen Dewere showed hunger and predatory instincts something that has been lacking in the team for sometime.

TAFIC could have grabbed the lead in the first five minutes but forward Bokani Kangangwani headed wide from Holiness Mlilo’s free kick with the goalkeeper to beat.

Mlilo, the only survivor of the TAFIC side that was relegated from the Premier League last season looked out of sorts for the better part of the proceedings.

In the 18th minute, Dewere opened the scoring when he tapped in a close cross from the right. Bongani Ranji who has been in the wilderness for sometime was unlucky not to extend the host’s lead when his shot from range was inches over.

The visitors who were in a defensive mode for most of the first half got their chance two minutes from the break. Innocent Mbanga shot from close range after was he released from the middle and the ball deflected into the net by defender Gofamodimo Kobe.

The second half saw TAFIC continue to miss chances while visitors who showed little threat continued to defend in numbers.

Defender Phatsimo Balemogeng cleared Mlilo’s shot from the line 10minutes into the second half.

The visitors’ woes continued with under 60 minutes into play when defender Amos Basiamang was shown a straight red card for dissent. In the 68 minute Kangangwani shot wide with the Kazungula goalkeeper Moemedi Sekaname at his mercy.

Zimbabwean Dewere completed TAFIC’s uneventful day with a miss in the closing stages.
