Rollers Bounce Back With Gunners Rout

Goals from captain, Sekhana Koko, Segolame Boy, Jerome Ramatlhakwana and Gofaone Tiro were enough to condemn Gunners to defeat. The Lobatse side replied through Mosimanegape Ntwaetsile and Thabiso Mabachi. Although they trailed to two quick goals, Gunners did not let Rollers bully them.

They dominated the first half, but were let down by poor finishing as they fluffed many chances.

Seasoned Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping came close to scoring in the 15th minute but his powerful header flew over the bar with Rollers keeper, Michael Pepukani beaten. Minutes later, Pako Modikwa let rip but Pepukani saved.  With Maano Ditshupo off colour, Gunners dictated terms in the mid-field with Moatlhaping and Topo Piet the architects. The Rollers defenders Oscar Ncenga, Simisane Mathumo and Obonye Moswate faced a tough time.

Kelelelo Kgosimore gave new signing and experienced defender, Tshepo ‘Talk Talk’ Motlhabankwe a torrid time on the right flank. Gunners pulled a goal back in the 37th minute through Mosimanegape Ntwaetsile.  Gunners started the second half on a high although Koko and Boy were also on fire. Boy turned Isaac Paeye inside out on several occasion. In the 83rd minute, Ramatlhakwana headed Rollers further ahead.  The Zebras striker headed in a well taken corner kick by Boy.

Boy returned to haunt Gunners in the closing stages when he dribbled past Paeye before releasing a powerful shot that hit the wood and back into play. Ramatlhakwane headed the ball over Gunners keeper Wagarre Dikago before substitute Gofaone Tiro finished it off to give Rollers the fourth goal.

Gunners’ scored their second goal deep into injury time through Mabachi, but it was too little to late for a come back. The win meant Rollers maintained their three point gap at the top after Chiefs had gone level on Saturday afternoon. Rollers has 40 points while second placed Chiefs has 37. Rollers coach, Madinda Ndlovu refused to grant reporters an interview.
