Phiri�s BOMU gong motivates him

The artist said that despite his recent divorce, he still believes in the institution of marriage and was pleased when his song Lenyalo, off the album, Tsela E Le Thata, picked up an award.
The video was produced by Metsimotlhabe-based Slate Dinoko of Slate Production, and contains real life marriage ceremony clips.
“Marriage is an institution blessed by God and must be embraced and celebrated by all. It is a gift from God to humanity and my song highlights that,” he said, adding that according to his Christian faith, a proper marriage should be between a man and a woman.
He condemned those who advocated for marriage between people of the same sex saying it was not in line with God’s plan for mankind.
Phiri also condemned those who marry for material gain.
“If you love someone, you must marry him or her not to gain material things from the union. Some marriages fail nowadays because some people marry for money,” he said.The vocalist-cum-instrumentalist said that he was happy because a lot of Christians voted for him to win the award because they appreciated the strong theme the song contains.
“I toured a lot of churches before the awards and I am sure that many appreciated my talent and promised to vote for me, which they did,” he said.
Phiri further said that his win has motivated him to do his best to promote his follow up album, while working on recording his third.
He pointed out that he intends to offer a quality product, which he hopes to release by the end of the year.
Phiri, whose debut album, O Ba Etele, helped launch his music career.
He said that since the year 2014 ended on a high note, he hoped that the year 2015 is also going to bring positive things in his life.
The artist who is also a pianist and vocalist in the praise and worship team at Branded Hearts Church said that he intends to grow his company, Phiri Music Investments.
The company also hires out musical instruments.
“I have seen a significant growth at Phiri Music Investments in that we have been able to buy a new car, which makes running the business much easier than before,” Phiri said.
