Kopano Modubule, related to the former Member of Parliament, told Showbiz that the elder Modubule has nothing to do with the club.

“He is not even a shareholder.  I am the one running the club and no one else,” Kopano said. Speculation has been rife in social media that since losing elections to Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) Sadique Kebonang, Modubule has now opened a club at Boatle junction.

Club Orange Groove opened its doors to patrons in December last year and is already proving to be a hit with revellers.

Kopano has emphasised that the new joint promotes responsible drinking by closely monitoring patrons to ensure that they do not take one too many.

“We want to make money, but we have a responsibility to saving lives and encouraging people to behave responsibly, he said, adding that they check if those who would appear heavily drunk have someone to drive them home and if they make a plan.

Also, their personnel keep a close eye on customers to ensure that they do not overdo it, he said.

“Just last weekend we refused entry to one person who was visible drunk, but still wanted to get more alcohol,” he said.

Kopano noted that the club opens between Wednesday and Sunday providing karaoke nights and live performances from DJs.

Former My Star contestant, Sharon, is currently resident entertainer doing karaoke nights on Thursdays.

On January 31 DJ Chrispin will be the main attraction following on the footsteps of another popular DJ Ricky Lamar who performed during the club’s opening on December 23, 2014.

“More performances are coming. We also plan to have live bands in future,” he said.
