F/town DJs thrill for charity

A sizeable group of disc jockeys based in Francistown entertained revellers at Dumela Lodge and donated the proceeds towards Abbie Ntshabele’s treatment. Codenamed ‘HELP ABBIE GET WELL SOON’ bash, the disc jockeys rocked for a cause.
Early last year, 14-year-old Ntshabele was diagnosed with a rare kind of cancer called ovarian immature teratoma. Since then, little Ntshabele has been surviving through expensive medication only accessible in the first world.
She is currently receiving treatment in the United Kingdom. Abbie has to undergo an operation in China, which is expected to cost US$50 000 excluding other costs such as transportation, accommodation among others.
Social media and newspapers were awash with the unfortunate, touching and painful story of the little Ntshabele.
After reading the different versions of the story, Mr Cue the DJ (Mosa Puso) organized a show aimed at raising funds for the teenager. With the help of one of the coordinators Mpho Pilane, Mr. Cue the DJ convinced other disc jockeys to rock with him for charity.
And Friday night was the night. Dressed in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, Mr Cue the DJ emotionally belted the tunes to entertain the fans. Probably, in a bid to persuade them to donate more, Mr Cue the DJ was at his best and the crowd responded well.
Before Mr Cue the DJ, an array of Francistown based talent entertained the crowd. Some of the DJs who took part in the fundraising show are DJ Bunz (Peter Gaetsewe) and DJ KUD (Kuda Molebedi).
“Abbie is going through some trying times. And for the trying times to pass there is need for many hands,” said Mr Cue the DJ, the brains behind the charity show. He said his wish is that the operation will go well in China.
For her part, Pilane hailed the disc jockeys in Francistown for the idea. Pilane said the support showed by Batswana has been so comforting to the family of the little Ntshabele.
P3 000 was raised from the gate takings collected during the charity show. At the time of going to press, Pilane was still to come up with a figure raised through the sale of T-shirts inscribed ‘Please, help Abbie get well’.
