This is the second year this event has been running and folk jazz music lovers can look forward to an evening of fresh soulful music and a great ambience.

Sereetsi told Showtime that Sereetsi and The Natives are a refreshing definitive reference in the contemporisation of folk music in Botswana and a unique voice in the world music arena.

Their act is said to present a fearless new sound that is as forward looking as is rooted in the indigenous musical traditions of Botswana with Afro Jazz textures and influences from Western idioms like funk, walking jazzy lines and Latin rhythms.

“I play the four string folk guitar that I have composed and arranged both for solo guitar and for a full band,” Sereetsi said.

He further said that his performances have been received well by fans.  Sereetsi also stated that Jazz X Change is a great platform for audiences to discover great cultural experiences from acts that place a high premium on solid musicianship at a great venue (President Hotel).

He also highlighted how honoured he felt to be headlining the show and wants people to support the show because it is doing a lot in making the city a vibrant and cultural destination. Sereetsi and The Natives use master storytelling and poetic lyricism to present interpretation on light and dark matters such as love, conflict, pain, joy and hope.  One of the organisers, Fauz El-Kindiy said that the show has previously brought 150 people from across the globe together in one place.  He further said that most of the audience’s age ranges from 23 to 60 years and loves the intimate environment that the Jazz X Change creates.

Sereetsi and The Natives’ debut album titled Four String Confessions is scheduled for release March this year.

Sereetsi and The Natives have become the saviours of the oral guitar tradition.

Recently, Sereetsi released the widely acclaimed first ever 83-page instructional book/CD on playing and understanding the Four String Guitar.

His book will be on display at the show, which will create discussion and conversation among fans.
