Gaborone has got talent

Some contestants impressed the judges with their amazing talents while others left the crowd in stitches with dramatic performances. A wannabe who clearly did not possess any musical talent persuaded the judges to give him three chances yet on all occasions, he failed to get a single note right.

Compared to the previous week’s edition in Lobatse, the Gaborone auditions attracted a lot more individuals with good potential to turn into complete artists. There were a number of ‘returnees’ like Nomsa who not only convinced the fans of her maturity but made the judges sing her praises after a scintillating performance of Aretha Franklin’s Natural Woman.

After falling along the way during the 2007 and 2010 editions, another hopeful, Tshepo, impressed the judges with Adele’s I can’t Make You Love Me. Chief judge, Kebetswe Master Dee Sesinyi told  Tshepo after her performance that: “You have improved tremendously since your last time here. I am really impressed and keep that up”.

Wheelchair bound, Ntebogang Malinda who despite struggling with toning managed to convince the judges that there is ability in disability. Before doing Kirk Franklin’s My Life, Malinda declared that the song provided a lot of motivation for her and that she believed she could make it as a musician.

One of the outstanding performances was by a lanky youngman called Kealeboga Dintwe who brought the house down with his rapping. He earned a huge applause even before he could get to the end of his song. However, the slim contestant had to try twice before getting the judges nod to the top 20 next week.
