The BMD Youth League (BMDYL) congress is expected to be held in Mochudi during the beginning of May.

The BMD secretary general Gilbert Mangole said that central committee, BMDYL and Women League elections would be held this year but on different months and dates.

“The one that will be held first is the one for the youth, followed by the mother body congress. Our National Working Committee (NWC) is meeting this Friday to finalise dates for all party congresses especially months.

“The mother body congress is expected to be held in July. The one which we have not suggested its month of election is the Women’s League one, but I hope next week we will know the month,” Mangole said.

He said the NWC has been tasked to come up with months and dates for congresses.

Meanwhile a source revealed that there would be a slight change to the mother body committee. The posts that are highly contested include the chairmanship and secretary general.

“The chairmanship post will be contested by Nehemiah Modubule and Pius Mokgware while the secretary general will be contested by Mangole and Dr Tlamelo Mmatli.

“There is no one who is willing to challenge the president Ndaba Gaolathe,” the source said.  However the BMDYL president Phenyo Segokgo said preparations were going smoothly for their event as each constituency was holding its own youth congress to select delegates who would be going to the youth congress.

He said they have met Mochudi committees to host their congress.

The highly contested posts at BMDYL will be its presidency and secretary general.

Youth presidency will be contested by Dimpho Mashaba and Phenyo Segokgo while the position of the secretary general would be contested by Tolerance Itumeleng and Nolly Obert.  Segokgo said their committee had managed to recruit youths into their party since it has been one of their mandates to build youth structures.
