The BCP will contest only in Moshupa West ward. On Friday following the Minister’s proclamation of the re-run in the three wards, nominations were received for Ngware, Goodhope and Moshupa West.

During the October 24, 2014 General Elections the BCP tied with the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) at Moshupa West ward, while on Ngware and Goodhope; the ruling party came neck-to-neck with the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

“We have fielded a candidate only at Moshupa West. That is the only ward that we are contesting. We will defend the ward during the re-run,” said the BCP secretary general Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang.

Gobotswang said after consultation with the relevant structures in the wards, they decided to support the UDC in Goodhope and Ngware.

“We cannot afford to waste our limited resources in the wards that we know we cannot win. We will only encourage our supporters in Ngware and Goodhope to support the UDC that has the changc of winning. We cannot just contest for the sake of contesting.”

Meanwhile the BDP and the UDC will contest all the three wards.
