“We need to strengthen each department because the whole team looked vulnerable for most part of the first half of the season. Bringing in around six players, maybe two in each department will help us improve our position in the league,” Sechele said.
TAFIC are 12th in the First Division North league.
During the match against ECCO, TAFIC handed a start to seven players trying out at the club while ECCO stuck to a familiar line-up. Other players on trials at TAFIC came in the second half, which proved to be a forgettable outing.
However, Sechele was quick to defend the triallists following the heavy loss.
“All the players who came for trials have been impressive since they started training early this week. The result today does not reflect their potential because we made so many changes in the match,” he said.
He said most of the players on trial are not used to playing against Premier League sides which might be the reason why they conceded so many goals.
‘BB’ as Sechele is affectionately known, said a decision on who to sign will be made within the next two weeks.
“ The players on trial are usually not from big clubs so they are cheap to buy, while those from big clubs are usually a bit expensive. It is highly likely that we will only sign players on trial because we do not have enough budget to bring players from established clubs though we have targets I cannot mention.”
On the other hand ECCO assistant coach, Screamer Molapi, whose brother Atshele coaches TAFIC, said ECCO is likely to sign two or three players in current transfer window. “The players look impressive and we look covered in most areas. We urgently need a defensive midfielder because we look thin in that department. We relied much on Zeco Makafiri and he has not trained for unknown reasons,” Molapi said.
He said that they have been forced to improvise in the absence of Makafiri. “In addition to a defensive player we may possible bring in one or two players to beef up the squad, but for now we are indecisive on that one because it is not urgent,” he added. ECCO also handed a run to a few players on trial over the weekend.
