Dubbed ‘Orange Makoya’, the service assists brand owners, stores and other suppliers to get access to customers who have an inclination towards a particular type of product or service.

The service which is expected to be operational January end, works according to the clients’ selected preferences, by sending SMS alerts to prospective buyers with brand offers and promotions from their chosen categories.

Incepta Communications mobile advertising sales executive, Seeletso Reikeletseng, said the service creates an opportunity for customers to find different services and products through their phones.

“This is a revolutionary service as it is a first of its kind in Botswana. It will also benefit local brands and various suppliers as they will be able to reach a wider network of their target audience, and it increases the chances of converting leads into actual sales,” he said.

He added that the new service would help improve efficiency in business. Customers will receive the information they require with just a click on their mobile phones. Brand owners will be assured of reliable and effective means of advertising their products and services.

Reikeletseng said with the advent of personalised shopping, Orange Botswana had identified a gap in the mobile and networking industry, and discovered the need to devise a service that would appeal to the mobile market and benefit most audiences ranging from teenagers to adults, taking into consideration their interests and preferences. “The mobile advertising service is expected to serve as a mobile directory for consumers and brand owners,” he noted.

Incepta Communications will be responsible for campaign trafficking and reporting, as well as publicising service to strategic partners and end-users.
