He said they are working round the clock to formulate a strategy for the league that will usher in new things.

“We are fine-tuning new and exciting innovations that we are going to launch at the end of February,” he said.

He stated that among other things the strategy will come up with ways of boosting match attendance. Mamelodi said more games will be played at the refurbished National Stadium in Gaborone. There have been complaints that the frequently used Molepolole Sports Complex is too far for football fans from Gaborone.

Mamelodi said everything went according to plan in the first round of the be MOBILE Premier League that ended last month.

“We are satisfied with the way things went. We have a schedule to complete and that’s our business.  You can’t achieve everything at one time,” he told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

He said the case in which Motlakase Power Dynamos protested that Extension Gunners failed to produce players’ identification documents in their game has been referred to the Botswana Football Association (BFA).

Regarding the attendances at the games, the CEO said it is something that needs to be looked into.   He said they are going to cater for the attendances with their new strategy.

Meanwhile, one of the new directors of BMC, Kelesitse Gilika gave the thumbs up to the manner in which the league is run.

A veteran football administrator, Gilika said there has been a tremendous improvement in the manner in which the league is run.

“I think there has been a lot of improvement.  If I was to award them marks, I could give them eight and half out of 10,” he said.

He stated that though there have been some challenges, the relationship between the Premier League and teams has vastly improved.

He hailed the establishment of the league website and the fact that teams are now given monthly grants. He is happy that teams have been provided with subsidised cellphones to make it easier for them to communicate.

He said the rapport between the clubs and the BPL is good. “Because of the improved rapport, it is easy for clubs to work together.

These days you can’t hear about a kit clash because we communicate in advance,” he said. He said the cooperation includes visiting clubs asking their hosts to advise them on affordable accommodation.
