Rape victim seeks police help

According to Station Commander Superintendent Theriso Thatayotlhe, the victim had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend and she asked another man, now a suspect, to accompany her to the police  station to report her boyfriend, only for him to rape her on the way.

The man then disappeared.

Superintendent Thatayotlhe said the suspect has not been arrested yet and further expressed concern at the alarming rate of rape cases in his area.

In a recent incident, a guardian who is now in police custody raped a minor.

On a different note, he said they are investigating a case in which three men aged between 24 and 30 years, attacked and assaulted a Mahotshwane businessman and his family with what is suspected to be a hammer and a metal rod.

The victims were treated for minor injuries and discharged the same day.

He further said the thieves walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash, shop keys, groceries as well as his car.  “The car was later recovered 20 km away, dumped next to the tarred road while the trio were arrested in Betesankwe village” he added.

Superintendent Thatayotlhe said investigations are ongoing and as soon as they are complete, the accused will appear before the magistrate for robbery.

Appealing to the public to guard their properties especially in parking lots during this festive season, he noted that they have recorded nine armed robbery cases this year alone.
