Failing poverty eradication projects worries MP

Recently, Billy invited the Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administrations, Phillip Makgalemele, to evaluate the projects and establish how the beneficiaries could be assisted for the success of their projects.
Speaking with Mmegi, Billy disclosed that most of the projects in his area have collapsed and do not benefit the beneficiaries as expected.
Billy said having previously benefitted disqualifies anyone otherwise eligible from benefitting from other initiatives, adding that it worries him that the projects are not doing well, consequently, leaving the constituents living in poverty. He said the beneficiaries of these projects are poverty-stricken individuals and are illiterate; thus needing extra care and support in order for their projects to succeed.
Billy added that some of the projects are failing because the beneficiaries lack knowledge and skills on how to operate their businesses. “Some of the projects are failing because the beneficiaries are not committed, thus they need extra support and motivation.
“Some of them complain that the relevant departments are not helpful and as a result they end up losing hope in their businesses once faced with challenges, “ said Billy. He said that unemployment causes crime and increase in the spread of HIV/AIDS. He went on to say that he want mines surrounding the city to significantly benefit the community not only by donating food and clothing, but by giving them something that lasts longer. “I think if the industrial policy is followed accordingly, the mines should have visible impact on the community they live in, “ said Billy. Billy said that Makgalemele has promised to take the matter to Parliament and hopes there will be a way of helping beneficiaries’ projects.
