BCA trains cricket teenagers

The BCA chief executive officer, Girish Ramakrishana told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the sessions will be open to all cricket players in the targeted age range. He said the training is meant to polish players for up-coming tournaments.

“We want to help those who are already in the squads be it Under 13, 15, or 19 to have all necessary knowledge and skills that can help them perform well during the various tournaments, and since the schools are closed, we are taking advantage of that, since we are able to get an impressive number of players,” stated Ramakrishna.

He said players who have not yet made it into the national teams will get a chance to prove they can play for the country.

“Our experienced coaches will help them with all that is required and the training will be tough.

The players who manage the tests and impress the coaches will be selected to don their country’s colours when the tournaments starts next year,” Ramakrishna explained.  The big numbers expected at the training will make it easy for coaches to select squads. After the training, Ramakrishna said all players will be ready to be selected for the national teams which will go into camp to intensify preparations.

He is happy because parents have agreed to release their children to participate in the training.
